Fans of Rick and Morty will undoubtedly rejoice at this good news. After six highly successful seasons, the adult animated comedy Rick and Morty is back and better than ever in its seventh installment. The premiere date for this critically acclaimed comedy has been announced.
What Is Rick And Morty All About?
The protagonist of the show is a brilliant but reclusive scientist who takes his nerdy grandson on daring adventures across the galaxy. Season 7 will add new episodes and be available online for streaming in 2024.
Rick And Morty Season 7 Is Happening, Gets Its Release Date
It is happening, according to Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen.
“Thanks to the talent of the entire show team, we can all enjoy 10 new episodes that yet again raise the bar for comedy and animation. This season proves that the geniuses at work on Rick and Morty are just getting started.” – Michael Ouweleen
The new season of the Emmy-winning sci-fi comedy will consist of 10 episodes, the same as previous seasons.
Rick and Morty is coming back with a new season, was also announced on X with a post that showed Rick, Morty, and Summer gearing up for more action. The caption read,
“We ride together. We die together. We’re buried in the backyard together. Rick and Morty Season 7 is coming 10/15 #rickandmorty.”
Season 7 will Have Some Major Changes
Co-creator and star Justin Roiland, who voiced major characters like Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, has reportedly left the show as of season 7. This follows his dismissal from the international smash-hit show and the termination of his lucrative overall contract following domestic violence charges in January.
Even though the accusations against Roiland were dropped in March, he was also accused of improper professional behavior and harassing a fan via direct messaging.
The show’s executive producer, Steven Levy, announced at this year’s Comic-Con that they were down to their last choices for voice actors that would portray the characters accurately.
Justin Roiland’s voice roles on Solar Opposites, another animated show he co-created, have already been recast and announced alongside the new season trailer.
When will Season 7 of ‘Rick and Morty’ premiere?
Season 7 of Rick and Morty is all set to premiere on Sunday, October 15 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim.
The next season of “Rick and Morty” will feature more of the show’s distinctive humor, according to a press release for the upcoming season. The press statement hints at future plot points, including Jerry-related developments, the introduction of an “EVIL Summer,” and the question of whether or not the characters will go back to their high school. The note makes a sarcastic allusion to the decline of problematic episodes from the previous season.
Conclusion
A similar update for Rick and Morty season 7 was expected, but neither Roiland’s replacement nor his participation in the new season were addressed.
The official synopsis for the next season appears to hint at this very thing. It is true that Rick and Morty sound more like themselves than ever in their return. There is no limit to what could happen in Season 7, it says.
Whoever replaces Roiland as the voice of Rick in Rick and Morty will have their work cut out for them, as Roiland was crucial to the show’s wit and appeal. But this could also be a chance for the show to grow and take risks while remaining faithful to its core values.
Adult Swim teased the soon-to-be-revealed premiere date for the seventh season of Rick and Morty with a new promotional video a few days ago. Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer, and Sarah Chalke are the voice actors for the new season.
