After the sudden debacle of Prithviraj, Akshay will be seen in Raksha Bandhan directed by Anand L Rai who also directed ‘Atrangi Re’ released last year on Disney+ Hotstar. The film received a great response from the audience for its story, music, and casting. And now the duo has reunited for a beautiful story of an Indian middle-class family. The film will also star Bhumi Pednekar.
Previously Akshay and Bhumi were seen in Toilet – Ek Prem Katha and now they have reunited for Raksha Bandhan focusing on the most crucial topic of our country, the ‘dahej pratha’. The film will also star Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb, Smrithi Srikant and Sahejmeen Kaur.
After a long wait, the makers have finally dropped the trailer of Raksha Bandhan. The film depicts love and bonding among an elder brother and sisters of a middle-class family. Directed by Anand L Rai and produced by Zee Studios the family drama is all set to hit theatres on August 11 on the account of Raksha Bandhan which marks an important occasion for the release.
The film marks a great visual treat to the audience since it talks about the love, joy, and unbreakable bonds between siblings. The trailer also shows a moment where Bhumi who plays the role of Akshay’s girlfriend in the film is seen arguing with him and we hear Akshay say he first wants his sisters to get married and only then will he get married.
However, a certain situation arises where he could lose his girlfriend forever. The film is a complete family drama and has a great sense of message being sent across to the viewers about the dowry system in our country which leads to serious issues. The bonding of the siblings in the film is eye-catching to the audience.

Akshay Kumar recently took to his Instagram to share the film’s motion poster. In a recent interview during the release of the first song of the film ‘Tere Saath Hoon Main’ the actor said that Raksha Bandhan is his best film to date. The director on the other hand says that he loves the middle-class world. And whatever he’s learned to date he tries to stay grounded in his roots and that’s an important reason behind him making films that represent the middle-class background.
The director also revealed why he chooses to work with one music director for one film. He said that for him music directors are not just for giving a song to a movie it’s the soul of the film. And as a director, it is very important to choose the right soul for the movie.
Anand L Rai also revealed that Raksha Bandhan was his second directorial, back-to-back after Atrangi Re. He will also be planning for Akshay, a third one. Raksha Bandhan will hit the theatres on August 11 and will mark a special place in the hearts of the audience.
