From action to progressive item songs, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa has been able to break a lot of stereotypical cinematic barriers. Initially, what was supposed to be a single film, will now be a two-part movie series. The first part, Pushpa: The Rise is written and directed by Sukumar and is produced under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers in association with Muttamsetty Media. The Telegu action drama has always been able to stay in the spotlight but has recently garnered a lot of attention, after winning the ‘Film Of The Year’ at Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2022. 

Considered to be one of the most prestigious awards for the Indian Cinema, it is a huge win for Team Pushpa. Named after the Father of Indian Cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke, this award is presented to the few deserving candidates, who were able to make a mark with their talent and contribution to cinema. This ceremony is held every year, and this year Pushpa was one of the films that managed to receive the ‘Film of the Year’ award.

The film starred Allu Arjun, affectionately called Bunny, as the titular character along with Fahadh Faasil (in his Telugu debut) and Rashmika Mandanna. The supporting actors include Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Sunil, Rao Ramesh, Dhananjaya, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Ajay, and Ajay Ghosh.

The Big Win

The news of their massive win was announced by the official Instagram account of the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival. They congratulated the team for their win and wished them luck for their future endeavors.

Pushpa globally has surpassed the collections of the biggest box-office releases from different language industries. It created a new box office record for the superstar Allu Arjun. They received amazing responses at the Box Office. Its success also marked the debut of the Hindi dubbed version in the OTT platform on Amazon Prime. The film was praised by both critics and audiences alike.

The song Oo Antava sung by Indravathi Chauhan and picturized on the stunning Samantha Ruth Prabhu was highly appreciated. The video even made it to YouTube’s Top 100 Music Videos Global list. It has already crossed 214 million+ views on YouTube. While the song seems like a regular item number, the lyrics is something that made it stand out. Unlike other item songs, it doesn’t objectify women but critiques and questions this age-old objectification.

Pushpa is a fresh movie in every way. It absolutely deserves the praise it is receiving. The acting, narrative, direction, music, story, everything is top-notch. The origin story of the lead character and his rise is simply captivating. Therefore being recognized as the ‘Film of the Year’ is nothing but an amazing win.

The story revolves around the rise of a coolie in the smuggling syndicate of red sandalwood. It is a rare wood that grows only in the Seshachalam Hills of Andhra Pradesh. The problems emerge when the police are commanded to bring down their organization.

Pushpa: The Rise emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film in the year 2021. It also ranks among the highest-grossing Telugu films of all time.

With the success of Pushpa: The Rise, the team is all set to prepare for the sequel. Named Pushpa: The Rule, the film will continue its story from where it left off. Actors Fahadh Faasil and Rashmika Mandanna will also be seen in the second part along with Allu Arjun as well.
