During the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studio’s president Kevin Feige announced the return of Daredevil. The original series, Daredevil was canceled on Netflix in 2018 after three seasons. Many other Marvel series which were in partnership with Netflix including Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, left the streaming platform to be released on Disney+.
Daredevil: Born Again
The new series, Daredevil: Born Again, will be returning on Disney+ Hotstar in the spring of 2024. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will be back in their respective roles of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. The series will have 18 episodes in the first season, which is unusual for an MCU show.
Typically, the shows aired on Disney+ under the banner of MCU have 6 episodes per season. It is still to be confirmed if the show will have multiple seasons or a limited one like WandaVision.
Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has already introduced a lot of characters, and many make a cameo in the latest installments like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, from the X-Men Files.
Vincent D’Onofrio was also a part of the Disney+ show Hawkeye. He was seen on screen until the last two episodes but was a major character in the show, after which Wilson Fisk (the character played by D’Onofrio in Daredevil and Hawkeye) was made a part of the MCU and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
These entries made fans speculate about a separate project where the two arch-enemies will star. The speculations were confirmed on Saturday evening at Comic-Con.
Vincent D’Onofrio On Playing His Character
Vincent D’Onofrio, who will be seen playing the role of Wilson Fisk, posted his reaction on his Twitter by tweeting his famous line “When I was a boy” on Friday which was followed a day later by another tweet “Yes Mr. Murdock” and the official first poster of Daredevil: Born Again.
The official page of Marvel Studios also posted about the announcement.
D’Onofrio has time and again talked about how much he enjoys playing his character. He shared that he wanted to continue playing the character of Wilson Fisk, even when the show was canceled on Netflix.
The actor is also rumored to reunite with Charlie Cox before the release of Daredevil: Born Again in the upcoming Disney+ show Echo which will be streaming in the summer of 2023.
Not only did D’Onofrio make an appearance, but Charlie Cox is also expected to appear in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law as Daredevil. She-Hulk is the next MCU series that will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
The trailer was launched at the San Diego Comic-Con. Charlie Cox also has the voiceover lined up for the animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year.
