Anand, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, was a smashing success that touched viewers on many levels. Even after all these years, the line “Babumoshaye Zindagi lambi nahi badi honi chahiye” is still instantly recognizable. The most touching part of the narrative is when the terminally ill patient becomes a friend and teacher to his doctor. The story of this friendship will remain indelible in our minds thanks to the late Rajesh Khanna’s portrayal of “Anand” in the film.

How can we Kuch Kuch Hota Hain? This film simultaneously reimagined what love and friendship could be. The story of Anjali and Rahul’s “Bro-love,” a platonic relationship that develops into romantic love, was an attempt to show how friendship is the foundation when it comes to love.

The movie “3 Idiots” is one of our favorites that never gets old. For its equal parts heartbreak and laughter, The Story of Rancho, Raju, and Farhan is an emotion that we keep coming back to. The innocence of their friendship endears them to us and reminds us of our college pals and the wacky roommate who encouraged us to think outside the proverbial box.

Filmmaker Ayaan Mukherjee’s Yeh Jawani Hain Deewani explored themes of romantic attraction, enduring relationships, a wide range of human emotions, and the importance of friendship. Kabir’s narrative centers on his relationships with his three best friends, Aditi, Avi, and Naina. The film demonstrates how lonely life can be without friends and how genuine joy can only be experienced in the company of unpretentious companions.

Kal Ho Na Ho, directed by Nikhil Advani, was a film that explored a wide variety of human experiences. Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of Aman moved millions of people, and his emotional arc broke the hearts of many more. There was more to the story than the love triangle between Aman, Rohit, and Naina; it was also the tale of the friendship that developed among the three.

Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was a slice-of-life film. As a result of Kabir’s wedding, three old friends reunite for a bachelor trip, where they make discoveries that alter their lives irrevocably. Every time we watch this movie, Arjun, Imran, and Kabir make us long for old pals.

Wake Up Sid, directed by Ayaan Mukherjee, is a coming-of-age story in which the protagonist, Sid, meets a girl named Ayesha. In addition to fostering Sid’s independence and responsibility, Ayesha’s friendship helps him rediscover himself and land a job he enjoys.

2. Gunday (2014)

The film Gunday, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, follows two young men named Bikram and Bala as they attempt to start a new life in India after fleeing persecution in Bangladesh. As the story progresses, they both fall for Nandita, a girl neither of them realizes is the other. They stay together through thick and thin, ultimately deciding that dying together is preferable to a life in prison.

Three actors played their first significant roles in the Karan Johar-directed film Student of the Year. The film starring Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, and Varun Dhawan, which depicted a love triangle, romance, vulnerable moments, and jealousy, was a smashing success. The story of how rivalry can cause friends to drift apart and how they can overcome it to become closer than ever is a testament to the strength of friendship. All of life’s nuances were captured in the tales of Rohan, Abhimanyu, and Shanaya.


There are many more stunning tales that honor the bond of friendship. But these are just a handful that audiences watched, loved, and resonated with.
