Supermodel Gigi Hadid planned a girls’ trip to the tropical destination from the United States on July 10.
However, Gigi Hadid and one of her members were allegedly arrested for possession of marijuana while vacationing in the Cayman Islands, according to reports by multiple media outlets. Let’s get all the details:
Gigi Hadid’s Arrest:
On arrival at Owen Roberts International Airport in her private jet, the Boards & Control agents discovered “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja” after putting her bags through a scanner and searching them by hand. The quantities “were relatively small and were seemingly for personal consumption,” according to the outlet.
Similar substances were found in the bags of Leah Nicole McCarthy, another member of Hadid’s group, Cayman Marl Road reported. Both women were arrested on “suspicion of Importation of Ganja and Importation of Utensils used for the consumption of ganja” and transported to the Prisoner Detention Center.

Later, the duo was released on bail and appeared in a Summary Court on July 12 where they both pleaded guilty. Both were fined $1,000 each and no conviction was recorded.
However, It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. She got in trouble as her prescription wasn’t from the island. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.
Hadid’s Response:
After the incident, following the news of her arrest, Hadid took to Instagram to seemingly brush off what happened, sharing a bunch of photos and videos from her vacation. She captioned the post with “All’s well that ends well.”

Many said Gigi was unbothered after making headlines on drug charges.
One commented on her post, “She couldn’t care less (laughing emoji).” Another wrote, “Girl after being arrested for drugs and released with money.” One joked, “My level of recklessness after being arrested and bailed.”
Defending Gigi, a fan wrote, “You all, she got the weed legally in New York and with a medical prescription for it. The Cayman Islands have allowed the medical use of weed since 2017. She only got a fine because her prescription wasn’t from there.”
