STORY
Following the story of Kukoo Sharma (Varun Dhawan) and Naina Sharma (Kiara Advani) as the childhood sweethearts deal with their marital problems. The story becomes entangled when it is discovered that Kukoo’s father (Anil Kapoor) is in an extramarital relationship. The movie explores family emotions along with some comedy.
REVIEW

With a huge ensemble of cast, the director, Raj Mehta did a pretty good job at portraying each character’s individual story in the best way possible. From Varun’s goofy acting to Anil Kapoor’s versatility everything is depicted in the movie.
Bringing in important topics such as the male ego, which is the main reason for Kukoo’s decision to divorce Naina, the movie raises some pretty important questions about modern marriages. But it does not dwell on the topic of patriarchy on deeper levels. The story feels incomplete because it introduces an important topic but does not look for the correct way to solve the situation, rather it uses comedy.
Neetu Kapoor made a comeback in movies after her movie, Shameless. She has left a mark with her acting in this film, especially in the emotional scene with Kiara Advani, sitting on the bench. Her subtle and rational character complements the storyline.
Both women, Neetu Kapoor and Kiara Advani portray very strong feminine characters who are very rational about their life and their respective marriages. Bringing in the right mix of emotions, Naina is a career-oriented, independent woman who balances her work and family life equally.
On the other hand, men (Kukoo and his father) are portrayed as irresponsible and self-centered characters. The father-son duo brings in the good and bad aspects of the movie.
Making a debut, Prajakta Koli, an Indian Youtuber who was last seen in the Netflix series Mismatched, did a great job in the little scenes she got. Also bringing in the comic side to the movie, Maniesh Paul does a great in making the audience laugh at the weirdest of times.
Overall Jug Jug Jeeyo is completely worth the time and money. The romantic comedy is a complete family entertainer that also talks about the struggles in a marriage whether in a love marriage or arranged marriage.
With catchy songs, quirky dialogues, and extremely beautiful outfits, the movie is a complete package of equal parts comedy and seriousness. The hype around the movie is completely worth it.
JugJug Jeeyo is now running in theaters.
