MCU introduces their first Muslim superhero, Ms. Marvel and fans are delighted!

Finally, after such a long wait the trailer of Ms. Marvel is here. MCU introduces Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teenager who idolizes Captain Marvel. She is the first-ever Muslim superhero of MCU who later on is seen to gain superpowers of her own, much like her idol. After the release of the trailer comic book fans have already started noticing similarities and differences from the comic book origins of the character.

In the comics’ Kamala gained her powers after being affected by Terrigen Mist, but in the trailer, she probably gets them from something looking like a magical bracer. With abilities like shapeshifting and super strength, the MCU version of Kamala also has the ability to create and manipulate cosmic material.

The trailer also includes glimpses of her high school life, social and personal life along with confirming the fact that she is showcased as a practicing Muslim. The villains can only be seen in vague shots, as there is a possibility of keeping them under wraps for a big reveal later on.

The use of The Weeknd’s popular track Blinding Lights in the background beautifully captures the essence and feel of the story. Before being a superhero we see her dealing with similar teenage issues. From being picked on, relationship troubles, and her own expectations and aspirations in life. Using this teen drama as the backdrop MCU sets up the superhero origin story. She is seen receiving an amulet that gives her superpowers, transforming her into Ms. Marvel. She faces several obstacles as a superhero and as a regular girl. The series will capture her journey through it all.

Another reason for Ms. Marvel making such hype is the appearance of the popular South-Asian actor Fawad Khan. Though it is not yet revealed what role he will play, the fans have already started expressing their excitement on social media.
