Mother’s day is a day we give back to our mothers for all the hard work and love they put in for us. This day is in the honor of motherhood and a mother’s influence on society. There are different dates on which Mother’s day is celebrated around the world. In India, this occasion is observed on the second Sunday of May.
The origin of Mother’s Day

At the time of American warfare, Ann Jarvis was a peace activist who used to help wounded soldiers. It was the year 1905 when she lost her mother and it struck her how important a mother’s role is in one’s life. Thus, she started gathering support from people for the celebration of Mother’s Day in the United States.
Finally, in the year of 1908, Jarvis organized a memorial for her mother at St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia, where the present International mother’s day shrine is held.
Moving ahead, in 1911, West Virginia where Jarvis resided became the first state to openly celebrate this day. Following this, most of the people in the United States made this day official by honoring it on the second Sunday of May. This same day is celebrated by people belonging to other countries like India, Italy, Singapore, Bangladesh, and Belgium.
Why do we celebrate Mother’s Day?

This is a remarkable day to understand and value what motherhood is, and how the journey of mothers has been in our life. It is a day to remember how much mothers do not only for their children but for society as a whole. And thus, this day should be relished for them by showering love, pamper, and gratitude for all that she has done for us.
