Mumbai Indians Vs Rajasthan Royals: 5-time Champions finally opened their account in the Tata IPL 2022. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak made sure that MI aren’t losing the plot. Suryakumar played a match-winning knock of 51 runs and made a statement that he still has a passion for the game. He knows that he is a vital cog in Indian National Team.
Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan continue their poor form
MI Captain Rohit Sharma has had a terrible season with the bat where he has failed to notch a big score. The skipper knows that his team is out of the tournament and has failed completely. The only thing he and his opening partner Ishan Kishan can do is spoil the party of other teams.
The defeat to RR means that they now again have to go to the drawing board and figure out what went wrong. The million-dollar baby of Tata IPL 2022 Ishan Kishan has had a forgettable season. He knows that MI Management can take bold steps by dropping him and making him sit on the bench for the next season.
We know how cruel the MI owners and Management can be as leaving out Pandya Brothers is an example of that; there is another layer to it that both Pandya Brothers rocking in the IPL. The opening duo needs to work out quickly as they have only 5 matches left for the next season 2023.
Over Dependence on Jos Buttler
The Swashbuckling batter once again took the responsibility of taking the team out of trouble by scoring 60 odd runs. RR Management and Sangakkara need to have some serious talks with Sanju Samson, Paddikal, and Hetmyer as alone Buttler can’t win Tata IPL 2022.
There is no doubt about his capability but he can’t smash a century which is the harsh reality. Buttler has taken the game to another level as in the initial stage he takes time till the power-play overs and then goes berserk which is more dangerous than a power-play blitz.
All in all, Buttler is all set to breach the record of Virat Kohli of 973 runs and 4 centuries; currently, Buttler has 3 centuries to his name where half of the tournament is still remaining.
Suryakumar Yadav takes MI over the finish line
The Scintillating batter this time made sure that MI win the match. He came when the team had lost 2 wickets and was in a precarious position. He took time and then got his eye in and then went into beast mode.
He played smart wicket as he targeted Daryl Mitchell and then at the back end of the innings he showed no mercy towards Chahal and Ashwin. The spinners have been creating havoc that too one by one, Chahal is the purple cap holder and a hat-trick wicket-taker. RR had defended 140 odd runs and defending 159 wasn’t a big task but Suryakumar had other ideas where there were glimpses of the old Suryakumar Yadav of 2019, 2020 who used to play fearlessly.
All in all, Yadav would hope that MI wins 4 to 5 matches and spoil the party of the remaining 9 teams.
