Nidhi Yadav is one such person—a courageous entrepreneur who ventured into the fashion industry, leaving behind her successful career at Deloitte.

For those unfamiliar with Nidhi Yadav, she is a skilled computer engineer who bravely left her position at Deloitte in Hyderabad at the age of 23. Motivated by her unwavering passion, she embarked on a remarkable journey, enrolling in a one-year course in Fashion Buying and Merchandising at the prestigious Polimoda Fashion School in Florence, Italy.

During a pivotal presentation at her office, a single question echoed in the air: “When was the last time she felt compelled to come to work?” Without hesitation, Nidhi proudly responded, “Never.” At that moment, a transformative conversation unfolded, forever changing the course of her life.

In 2014, Nidhi Yadav introduced her brand, Aks Clothing, investing INR 3.5 lakhs to bring it to life. Her audacious entrepreneurial leap initially astonished her family, but their unwavering support emerged over time, showcasing their belief in her visionary pursuit. Nidhi immersed herself in six months of intensive research, exploring the world of Zara, a renowned fashion powerhouse, laying the groundwork for her own venture. With meticulous precision, she devised a bold strategy—launching 20 captivating styles every two weeks—which proved immensely successful in the early stages.

Nidhi embarked on her entrepreneurial odyssey with AKS, an online brand, while also being a mother to her seven-month-old daughter, Sunidhi. Supported by her loving husband, Satpal Yadav, an MBA graduate from IIM Kozhikode, they journeyed to Jaipur together, handpicking the very garments that would shape their destiny.

Reflecting on the journey of AKS (meaning “Reflection” in Hindi), Nidhi shared, “I aspired to create a fast fashion empire similar to Zara. However, my husband, who was an operations manager at Jabong, saw greater potential in ethnic wear.” United in their vision, a new chapter unfolded, captivating hearts with every ethereal creation.

Over the years, Aks witnessed significant revenue growth, skyrocketing from Rs 1.60 crore in 2014 to an impressive Rs 8.50 crore the following year. The upward trajectory continued, reaching an astounding Rs 48 crore by 2018. Despite receiving no external funding, Aks is projected to surpass the remarkable milestone of Rs 200 crore in revenue by the end of 2021, as reported by DNA. While the latest earnings figures are undisclosed, the brand unveiled its ambitious plan to achieve Rs 500 crore in the financial year 2023-2024, exemplifying unwavering growth.

Nidhi Yadav embodies inspiration, transforming from a disillusioned computer engineer into a triumphant fashion entrepreneur.
