Pitch Report
In the past, this surface has helped quick bowlers and been quite athletic, and today is no exception. The thick layer of active grass will provide lots of pace and bounce. This, though, could be a double-edged sword Batting first might not be such a bad idea.
Top Performers
Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar “Gabbar” Dhawan, India’s great opener, returns to his birthplace in 2019 to bolster the Delhi Capitals’ batting squad after a string of solid performances since the IPL’s inception.
Dhawan has transferred to PBKS after being bought by the franchise for INR 8.25 crore at the TATA IPL 2022 auction after dominating the show with the bat.
With 5784 runs and 244 half-centuries, Dhawan is the second-highest run-getter in IPL history.
The swashbuckling left-hander will be key to PBKS’ prospects, with a wealth of experience under his belt and a high number of runs against his name.
Surya Kumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav has established himself as one of India’s finest white-ball hitters because of year-after-year consistency. He has made quite an impression since returning to the Mumbai Indians for the 11th season of the IPL.
When confronted with the new ball, he seemed at ease and handled the situation wonderfully. Suryakumar was able to shift gears and even play calmly when the scenario demanded it by adapting his game to the circumstances. With 424 runs, he was MI’s second-highest run-scorer in 2019.
He outperformed himself in the 2020 season, hitting 480 runs with a strike rate of 145 and going on to make his T20 International debut for India. Prior to the auction, he was held by the franchise, demonstrating how highly he is prized by MI. The success of MI will be determined in large part by Suryakumar’s performance this season.
Conclusion: PBKS is way ahead but Mumbi will fight back and they will win and open their account for this season.
