Raymond Ltd, the country’s largest textile and clothing firm, has hired Sunil Kataria, a veteran of the consumer products industry, to oversee its lifestyle division. In India, Raymond is a well-known worsted suiting producer that provides complete fabric and garment solutions. Raymond’s retail networks span more than 600 municipalities and include 1,400 locations. It also sells packaged consumer goods in the men’s grooming and personal hygiene categories.
Kataria, who served as the former CEO of GCPL’s India and SAARC regions for over a decade, left the company earlier this year. Kataria’s new role will include pushing the digital agenda and growing the brand’s presence in both domestic and foreign markets, according to a statement from the firm.
Raymond’s appointment of Kataria occurs at a pivotal period in his life. Kataria’s job will be critical in leading the continuing transition to develop a future-ready Raymond that blends digital and physical experiences while injecting freshness into the product portfolio to spur growth.
Kataria previously served as the CEO of Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, where he oversaw India’s and Southeast Asia’s business operations. He was responsible for the company’s transition. Kataria has worked for companies like Marico and Idea Cellular during the course of her 30-year career. He is the chairman of The Indian Society of Advertisers at the moment.
Raymond Ltd chairman and managing director Gautam Hari Singhania stated that Raymond has been making bigger gains and establishing brands and retail experiences for its loyal and new-age consumers over the last few years. He extends a warm welcome to Mr. Sunil Kataria as he joins the Raymond family, and he is confident that Mr. Sunil will play a key role in advancing the company’s growth in India and internationally.
Raymonds said in 2019 that it would demerger its main lifestyle business and float it as a separate company in order to create two different businesses. The lifestyle business’s demerger plan, however, was later abandoned. Rather, the corporation decided to merge its apparel division.
Raymond, Raymond Ready-to-Wear, Raymond Made-to-Measure, Park Avenue, ColorPlus, Parx, and Ethnix by Raymond are all part of the Raymond Group’s lifestyle business.
