Tejasswi Prakash, one of the prettiest actresses on Indian Television, has recently been all over the news for her significant win in Salman Khan’s reality show Bigg Boss, Season 15. Known for her roles in Swaragini: Jodein Rishton Ke Sur (2015), Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya (2017), and Sanskar Dharohar Apno Ki (2013), she has since been able to steal the audiences’ hearts with her innocent looks and that pretty smile.
Early Years
The actress was born on June 10, 1993, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She was raised in a musical family with a Marathi background. Her full name is Tejasswi Prakash Wayangankar. She studied engineering and completed her graduation in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Mumbai University. While she chose to go for a different profession, her younger brother Pratik Wayangankar is working in the US.
Professional Life
Her acting career began in the year 2012, with Life OK’s 2612, a suspense thriller compiled with fantasy elements.
She rose to fame with the 2013 show Sanskaar – Dharohar Apnon Ki. In this show, she played the role of Dhara Vaishnav.
Her first lead role came with Colors TV’s Swaragini – Jodein Rishton Ke Sur. The show was named after the two sisters Swara and Ragini, played by Helly Shah and Tejasswi Prakash. It made a big boost in her career, as it was a titular role.
In 2017, controversy arose with her show in Sony TV’s Pehredaar Piya Ki opposite Affan Khan. She played Diya Singh an 18-year-old girl who was seen to be married to a 9-year-old boy. The show observed severe backlash, for glorifying child marriage. This ultimately led to the cancellation. It was later replaced with Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya, re-casting Prakash as Diya Singh, opposite Rohit Suchanti.
In 2018, she played the role of Uruvi in Star Plus’s Karn Sangini opposite Aashim Gulati. Prakash in 2019 also acted for the OTT platform with Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka in Voot, opposite Kunal Jaisingh
Her reality TV journey started in 2020 when she participated in Colors TV’s Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 10. This was followed by Bigg Boss 15 next year, which he ultimately won. Recently, she bagged the series Naagin 6 and will play the character called Pratha.
Awards And Recognition
She was nominated for her first award in the Best Actress In Negative Role category by Indian Telly Awards, for Swaragini – Jodein Rishton Ke Sur. She was nominated for the Gold Awards for two consecutive years for Best Actress for Karn Sangini and Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka. She finally won in Bigg Boss Season 15 which ultimately acquired her some recognition from big producers and directors.
She has come a long way since her career began and even though facing several hiccups and controversies along her journey, she stayed strong and focused on improving her craft and being better. She is now seen in the popular TV series Naagin 6, produced by Ekta Kapoor under Balaji Telefilms.
