REVIEW
Thar movie is set in a border town named Munabao in Rajasthan in the 80s, which is just a mile away from Pakistan. The town is quite calm and aloof from the hustle and population, and only a few of those who reside there tend to be minding their own ways. However, this peace is shortly disrupted by a horrifying murder, the scene where the cop, Surekha Singh enters.
Singh has been in the local police for quite some time and thus he is desperately in need of a promotion. Singh’s zeal makes his wife Pranati (Nivedita Bhattacharya) concerned about his life and the risks that come with being a cop.
But Singh, being blinded by his urge to see a promotion he thinks he deserves, comes across the murder in that town. And thus, this murder seems like a perfect entry ticket to his raise if he solves the crime well.
On the same lines, Siddarth, an antique dealer as he claims it to be, sets foot in the dry and dull town. And as a rather charming stranger who otherwise would have what motive than dealing of antiques, makes the local crowd question his presence. Also, he apparently enters the town just when the murder spree is going on around.
This makes Siddarth a suspected person for Surekha Singh’s journey to break the case. But for Siddarth, being a good-looking fellow, he gains a lot of attraction from the women around the town.

Thar, being a small town in a secluded area does not concern the law to keep a check on it. Thus, it becomes an underground place of drug dealings and horrifying crimes. It not only focuses on this but also shows the secrets and terror that reside in this place, which makes the movie mysterious enough to capture the public’s eye.
However, with the well-thought sets and plotlines, the movie does get a bit of a neutral tone with the characters and the murders.
Beneath all the charismatic shots of sand dunes, there is weak sauce production quality. Nonetheless, Anil Kapoor, as a savior spares the movie to turn out to be mediocre with his flawless acting and dialogue delivery.
RATING
The film, Thar has got a rating of 6.4/10 on IMDb, which makes the movie bearable enough for a one-time watch.
