Hirdesh Singh, better known as Yo Yo Honey Singh, is an Indian singer, rapper, music producer, and all-around entertainer. He has been interested in music since he was a child, but just began professionally in 2003, when he was 20 years old.
Honey Singh rose to prominence through his independent music videos and eventually gained international acclaim when he began writing songs for Bollywood films. He is one of the industry’s highest-paid musicians and has had only success in Bollywood.
Shakal Pe Mat Ja, featuring Gagan Sidhu, was his debut song in Bollywood films. Honey Singh demanded Rs. 7 million for a song in Mastan. This was the highest sum ever paid to a song artist in Bollywood, making Singh one of the highest-paid musical artists in the industry.
Honey Singh Singh made his acting debut in Baljit Singh Deo’s Punjabi film Mirza – The Untold Story (2012), playing Deesha, a crazed thug. Despite the fact that it was simply a cameo, Singh’s performance earned him the PTC Punjabi Film Award for Best Male Debut. The next year, Singh co-starred with Amrinder Gill in another Punjabi film, Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22, a comedy directed by Amit Prasher, playing Rolly, a foolish and pampered brat. This was Yo Yo Honey Singh’s first main lead role.
Yo-Yo has only given hits throughout his career, with some of his most renowned songs being ‘High Heels,’ ‘Desi Kalakar,’ and ‘Main Sharabi.’ He had to take a long break from 2016 to 2018 due to an accident. During this time, his competitors acquired an advantage in the industry, but he made a triumphant comeback and remains one of the top musicians.
