The highly anticipated solo single, ‘The Astronaut’ has finally landed and within two hours, the MV has crossed 3 million views on YouTube. The track is said to be inspired by a ‘powerful’ conversation Jin had with Chris Martin.
The soft, steady, and soothing vocals of BTS’s Jin and Coldplay’s cosmic music fit like a glove. Co-written by Jin and Coldplay and produced by Kygo and Bill Rahko, “The Astronaut” is a bittersweet treat from BTS’s Jin.
About The MV
The teaser showed a sad Jin devoid of emotions, sitting in a desolate landscape alone, in front of a burning spaceship. Today, on 28th October, the story became clear after the release of ‘The Astronaut’ MV.
“You and me an unending history”, the opening verse of this soul-soothing track, narrates the entire theme of this MV. Captivating harmony between the calming sound of acoustic guitar and the gradual build-up of synth sound builds up this pop-rock song.
The MV is about a being from outer space navigating the Earth. During his journey, he comprehends the meaning of togetherness, and “family”. The love and joy that the solitary figure experienced on Earth made him no longer wish to go back.
In the beginning, Jin is shown as a solitary being wearing a dark suit. As he learns how to spread love, and what it means to be loved by someone, he sheds that aura of solemnity. The MV beautifully ends with Jin filling the crosswords with the word ‘family’ and looking right into the screen breaking the fourth wall.
The MV ends with a powerful message; “When I’m with you there is no one else I get heaven to myself.”
