The new trailer of Oscar-winning filmmaker Damien Chazelle’s much-awaited film, Babylon has now been released. Babylon, the upcoming epic period comedy-drama from Paramount Pictures, has received its official trailer. The vibrant trailer looks beyond intriguing as it takes us through a time in old Hollywood that has been the most scandalous one. Unlike his 2016 Oscar-winning film La La Land, Damien hasn’t romanticized it.
The trailer chronicles the movie industry’s transition from silent films to talkies as it explores the rise and fall of multiple characters. It was the time when Hollywood was known for hard partying, drug-related chaos, and brawls.
Cast
In the kooky trailer, Babylon boasts a sprawling ensemble of artists- Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Diego Calva, Jean Smart, Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, PJ Byrne, Lukas Haas, Olivia Hamilton, Tobey Maguire, Max Minghella, Rory Scovel, Katherine Waterston, Flea, Eric Roberts, Ethan Suplee, Samara Weaving, and Olivia Wilde.
More about Babylon
The period drama is set during a turbulent time in the history of Hollywood. The flashy film presents the “depravity and debauchery” of Hollywood in the 1920s. It walks us through the alleys of old Hollywood through the eyes of an assistant named Manny, played by Diego Calva.
Brad Pitt plays the role of a Hollywood big shot and talks about ‘high art’ in the film. He stars in the part of the seasoned movie star character Jack Conrad. Conrad is an aging movie star who takes Diego’s character under his wing. Margot Robbie is the wild child in the film. Margot plays the role of an ambitious bombshell actress, Nellie. She is an up-and-coming actress who is aiming to make it big in the movies. Nellie is ready to climb up the ladder with everything she has.
These three interesting characters showcase different sides of the entertainment industry.
BABYLON – Official Trailer (2022 Movie)
In the rampant drama, big dreams meet big egos, colliding in an intense and action-filled affair. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, desperation reeks through the screen.
The trailer stayed shut about the plot. Interestingly, the trailer also gave a glimpse of Tobey Maguire. Tobey’s character felt strange and quirky. The details of this peculiar character are yet unknown. The trailer gave a dazzling glimpse of chaotic Hollywood.
In the trailer, there appeared some hilarious moments featuring Pitt’s character. After Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, Babylon will be Pitt another take on Hollywood era film. As Jack Conrad, Pitt also gets one of the trailer’s big dialogues, “You know, when I first moved to L.A., you know what the signs on all the doors read? No actors or dogs allowed. I changed all that.”
After the 2018 film, First Man starring Ryan Gosling, Babylon marks the return of the Academy Award-nominated director of La La Land. In Babylon, the director paints a visual picture of old Hollywood’s love for excess in everything. Subtly reminding us of The Great Gatsby.
The film is largely fictionalized but based on real people – of Hollywood’s jazz era heyday.
Babylon has sky-high expectations. The film has already been deemed an award contender given its cast and larger-than-life storytelling.
Babylon will be released only in theatres.
