On Monday Netflix released its trailer of the upcoming dark comedy Bollywood film Darlings which stars Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew. The film is all set to have a digital release on Netflix on August 5, 2022.
Darlings Storyline
The story revolves around a couple Badrunissa(Alia Bhatt) and Hamza (Vijay Varma) based in Mumbai who is pretending to be madly in love with each other but hiding the reality of their real relationship crises behind closed doors.
Badrunissa is a victim of domestic violence at the hands of her husband Hamza who is seen going missing. Badrunissa along with her mother (Shefali) is regarded as the prime suspects as they might have kidnapped or killed Hamza to avenge his ways.
Darlings Trailer
The trailer is a perfect amalgamation of dark humor and just a complete blend of thrill to keep one hooked on the story. The trailer begins with Hamza Shaikh declaring that he has decided to leave his wife Badrunissa and which thus leads to the beginning of a dark albeit fun journey.
Badrunissa and her mother filed a complaint to find Hamza who has gone missing. Another glimpse is of Badrunissa being abused by her husband Hamza. And so she decides to treat him just the way he has been treating her, which is anything, but kind.
“Enough defense, I will play offense now” is Badrunissa’s motto and she sticks to it. She hides Hamza in the house with the help of her mother and Badrunissa makes sure that she teaches him a lesson. Simply put together, these Darlings are not the kindest.
Alia Bhatt’s Debut As A Producer
The film also marks the production of Eternal Sunshine of Alia’s banner. It is her first time co-producing a film with Red Chillies Entertainment. While sharing the trailer on her Instagram Alia wrote, “My first film as a producer. So excited, nervous, and thrilled to share it with you! Darlings trailer out now!’’
