Republic Day and Independence Day are unique events for India and Indians. On 26 January, Republic Day, India became Republic. This Day represents India’s adoption of a new Constitution. Whereas Independence Day is on 15 August, India gained Independence from Colonial Rule and freedom from the British.
Independence Day
On Independence Day 15th of August, India witnesses a massive celebration with the tricolor flag flying high, parades, and cultural programs across the country. The flag hoisting event on 15 August occurs at the Red Fort in New Delhi. On this Day PM Modi’s address to the nation. This Day is a public holiday.
This Day holds the national movements and struggles to achieve India’s independence. The Day reminds Indians of the bravery of the freedom fighters who fought boldly and gave their lives for India’s freedom.
On 15 August our country gained the acceptance of being an independent, sovereign state in the world Independence Day is the occasion of showing patriotism and emotions towards the country.
India gained independence in 1947 at midnight on the 14 and 15th of August. In every part of India, this day is considered the day of freedom. They fought bravely, got arrested, and sometimes even got murdered for their country.
On 15th August, Independence Day we remember the brave souls, the soldiers, and the freedom fighters who are no more. They gave their lives for the Country. They will be in our hearts. We hoist the flag, so pay respect to our beloved country. PM Modi takes great initiatives such as ‘Har ghar tiranga’ to promote love among the citizens and to hoist the flag high up in the sky.
Republic Day
On Republic Day, 26 January, India’s president, the country’s first citizen, attends the ceremony and unfolds the Indian flag. It takes place at Rajpath in Delhi, followed by parades and an artillery act. It is also a public holiday.
On 26 January, India’s Constitution came into existence, officially making India a democratic, sovereign, and republic Country. The Constitution plans the fundamental duties and rights of Indian citizens. The government structure and the principles that guide the country.
Indian Republic Day and Independence Day are crucial national occasions retaining different achievements in India’s history. Independence Day represents the end of British colonial rule and the rise of an independent country.
At the same time, Republic Day honors the adoption of the Constitution. India has declared a republic state with its governing rules and regulations.
Becoming a Republic state was vital because it meant that India had a right to choose its head of state to become the country’s president. C Rajagopalachari became the last Governor General of India.
As the citizens of India could now have their Presidents. As it was not necessary to need British-appointed heads of state.
Our duty as a citizen of India
As India will be celebrating its 77th Independence Day this year, we all should come forward and make a better place for all. No matter wherever we go, we must always make India proud and remember our roots. We have rights and duties as Indian citizens; we must do those with pride. Indians will take the initiative to spread peace and love among all.
