Insidious: The Red Door, the horror franchise’s original cast is back with the final chapter of the Lambert family’s horrifying saga.
The Red Door marks the directorial debut of actor Patrick Wilson, who portrayed Josh Lambert in the preceding two films. Ty Simpkins, Wilson, Andrew Astor, Rose Byrne, and Lin Shaye reiterate their roles from previous films while Hiam Abbass and Sinclair Daniel also join the cast.
Plot
Ten years have passed since the events of the second movie’s climax, and the story picks up when Josh drops off his son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) at college. The two had a tense relationship and no memory of the ghosts that stalked them ten years ago since they were hypnotized to forget. However, Dalton’s desire of attending college is crushed when his long-repressed demons unexpectedly reawaken and terrorize both the father and son. To put an end to the terrifying terrors and banish the demons, Josh and Dalton once again return to the Further.
Story Review
The film is a mess that unravels slowly. In the first half the movie tricks you into getting scared but very soon that emotion changes as the narrative worsens further. It uses motifs and components from its predecessor, treading on familiar ground. However, it lacks the decency to give enough jump scares and some indication of a plot. The whole plot of the film may be contained in a single, hour-long TV show. The film is not as powerful as its two predecessors.
Notable Performances
In his portrayal of a middle-aged man experiencing brain fog as demons from the past attempt to infiltrate his consciousness, Ty Simpkins adds depth to his portrayal of a youngster whose loss of memory just makes him more susceptible to being the mechanism of the unknowable, he is able to maintain the mystery of insidiousness in his act.
The Red Door is notable for taking the time to get to know its characters, especially Dalton’s flatmate Chris (Sinclair Daniel), who tries her best to add some humour to the sombre proceedings and, to a certain extent, succeeds while not accruing many fatalities.
New installments from the Insidious franchise have consistently performed well at the box office for over 10 years. Although the success of Insidious: The Red Door in theaters largely determines the destiny of the Insidious franchise.
Background Music – A treat to ears.
The only individual that deserves a 5/5 for their work on the movie is Joseph Bishara. Regardless of what is happening on screen, his BGM draws you in and begins straight away with the logos of the producing companies. The movie’s soundtrack, composed by Bishara, is still its strongest feature when combined with an immersive sound design.

Conclusion
Overall the movie has a promising beginning. It’s watchable for the serious jump scare but it ends up being half hearted for horror movie mongers and two rushed to call it an end for the Lambert family’s nightmare.
