International Women’s Day 2022 – The reason why nature is represented by women is that only they both can endure years and years of pain and trauma caused to them by mankind. And the reason women constantly keep fighting for equal rights is to save the dying planet which will in return save them and the entire humanity.
When is International Women’s Day?
Today, Tuesday 8th of march 2022 is celebrated as international women’s day, and this day we are celebrating the Sheroes of the world who have changed history and built a future for all the women across the world and who are fighting fiercely to bring life back to nature.
The Theme of the Day
No flowers, chocolates, or pricy materialistic gifts. The theme of international women’s day IWD is Gender Equality for today for a Sustainable Tomorrow.
The greatest challenges of the 21st century are in the context of climate change, environment, and risk reduction. And sustainable future is beyond reach without gender quality and equal rights.
We are celebrating the women of the past who fought for women’s rights fiercely and honoring the leadership of the women and girls of the present 21st century who are leading the charge on the climate change issues for a sustainable future.
So join in and be a part of the IWD #BreakTheBias movement.
The Theme Colour
In 1919 Alice paul who led the national women’s party started sewing stars a giant purple, white, green flag known as the suffrage movement. Purple for loyalty and dignity, white for purity, and green stood for hope.
Each time the state ratified the 19th amendments, a new star was added.
History of IWD
Fighting for women’s rights started way back in the 1900s. 15000 women in 1908 gathered in new york city demanding better pay, shorter working hours, and the right to vote. From 1909-1911 there were many protests, strikes to make IWD official in the calendars.
Women were demanding the right to vote, equal payment, better working conditions, and the safety of women in the work areas.
And because of the Russian war, women started the bread and roses campaign.
1913- 2011 followed a series of strikes and campaigns for women’s solidarity, women’s equal rights to human rights which included violence and harassment against women. From 2000 till now there were organizations and charities built to support women across the world and many higher officials like Hillary Clinton to Barack Obama supported and launched various campaigns on the 8th march every year and spread the awareness of helping the women and making them independent.
According to the Julian calendar, 28th Feb of 1917 was marked as the first international women’s day but because the rest of the world followed the Georgian calendar 8th march became the day of all the brave and strong women.
Women who are fighting for our future and against climate change

She works on projects like rooftop farms, canal gardens, water-storing parks so that in times of flood these spaces can absorb the water, causing less damage to the environment and its people saving more water instead. She started this when Thailand was hit with the worst flood in 2011 where families and buildings were destroyed. In Bangkok, she has created an 11acre “thirsty” plot that is capable of absorbing 11 million gallons of water which are done through the combination of sloped garden and wetland.
FEMINISM
The opposite of patriarchy isn’t matriarchy it is feminism which means fighting for equality. Here is the definition of feminism which we need to be taking pride in and not getting embarrassed or associating it with man hate.
Because of the battle fought by women in the past, the women in the present are able to live and are also able to fight for their rights. Throughout the years, feminism has taken up a lot of new forms and shapes and now it has a power attached to it, which allows people to voice out their problems in work, house, and in the family.
We see now men too taking part in the feminism movement which has made it even more possible for women to reach the freedom that they are fighting for.
Consent plays the main part in feminism where women and men are taught the right to say yes and no, be it sexual or non-sexual.
Women have started prioritizing themselves and are not bound to stay at home or raise a family. They are now following their dreams.
But the subjects like harassment, trolling, marital rape, abuse, and many more topics are still going on in the world. Even though they are addressed now but the cases keep rising and keep spiraling back to the same gender inequality and the fight for basic human rights.
Women have become so used to the patriarchal way of living that they don’t even realize it. How it’s like to walk on the streets without fear, here are some of the simple pleasures of life that women are denied.
The reason why the planet is having a mental and physical breakdown is because of these gender inequality and stereotypes. The day all these gets erased is when the earth will finally breathe and we will breathe with it. So don’t think the fight is over, we have a long way to go.
