Yasmin Mistry is one of the Mrs. World International at 2022. She talks about her journey and being in this industry and the challenges she faced and also she talks about her business. She is a founding trustee of Zoroastrian Trust Funds of India a non-profit organization. And she also shared many things with us.
Can you tell us about your background and how you became Mrs. World International?
In my early days, I used to be a model by profession, until due to my father’s untimely demise I went ahead and took up his business. And there on I have been in business for the last 15 years now.
One fine day I went through a feature in which we’re inviting applications for Mrs. World International. And decided to give me another try, that’s how it happened & I went ahead and realize my dream.
Can you discuss your role as the MD of Durand Forms India and Mistry Logistics?
I have been the MD & CEO of this company for the last few years, taking care of the manufacturing and the finance of the company.
Can you tell us about the work you do as a founder trustee of the Zoroastrian Trust Funds of India?
ZTFI was conceived in 2008 by like-minded people it was between myself and Mr. Kersi Randeria and we thought we should come ahead and do something for the community that’s how trust was developed and conceptualized to be able to aid the deserving community members.
How do you balance your responsibilities as a businesswoman, mother, and philanthropist?
Well, I am not a mother yes yet, nor I am going to become one. And the balancing part is just in the mind, it’s just about taking duties day in and day out and trying to do them to the best of our possibilities.
Can you speak about any challenges you have faced in your career and how you overcame them?
Life is all about challenges, be it at home, being a mother, being a business person, or anything else in life, it’s about challenges it’s about the balance we maintain and it’s about the amount of passion we have towards completing our job.
Can you discuss your leadership style and how it has helped you in your professional and personal life?
I feel I am a person who tries to do it myself first, I feel other’s just need to follow us, as long as they just follow and do the line I have set all things will fall into place. I make it easier for my employees.
Can you tell us about a project or initiative that you are particularly proud of and why?
The project I am particularly proud of is my mine non-profit organization which is ZTFI. To be able to conceive and to be able to go ahead and do things for the underprivileged. Month after month, year after year in the last 13 years is the faith in itself and I am extremely proud that I am able to put it, I am extremely proud that I am able to convenience people to come forward and help me to be able to help others.
Can you speak about your experience working in the logistics industry and any innovations or developments you have implemented?
We have gone way ahead as long as the logistics field is concerned. Over wheels, we used to transport contractors earlier and now we are like a logistic company taking care of clearing forwarding warehousing and other things where logistics is a concern.
Can you talk about your experience working with the Zoroastrian community and the impact of your philanthropic efforts?
I feel there are a lot of other institutions also in the Zoroastrian Company where that try to come forward and help a lot of people. Mine is just one of them, maybe we do not make world of difference, but definitely we make a bit of difference for sure, and I am sure all the people who benefited because of me and my nonprofit organization will have a lot to say about it.
Can you discuss the role of technology in your companies and how it has helped to improve efficiency and customer service?
My company Durand Forms India is all about technology, it definitely, helps a lot in the construction business it makes work much faster, and probably developers are able to benefit a lot because of the formwork technology.
Can you discuss your experience working in a male-dominated industry and how you have navigated any challenges?
I don’t believe it, I don’t believe to the fact that anything is male-dominated or female-dominated. I feel men and women are treated equally in this file, in this community it just depends on the way you take it forward.
I have never ever experienced any such challenges, I have been transporting contractors deled with drivers, and cleaners companies and I have found it all very smooth going.
Can you talk about any notable partnerships or collaborations you have had in your career?
I had a lovely partnership with my partner Mr. Kersi Randeria and I am proud to be a part of his organization also.
