Match 17, CSK vs RR: The much-awaited clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) is set to take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai for Match 17 of IPL 2023. Both teams have won two out of three matches played, with a defeat each.

In their last game, CSK registered a comprehensive victory over their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, RR’s Sanju Samson-led side emerged victorious against the Delhi Capitals, making a strong statement in their previous outing.

RR has had the upper hand in the last five meetings between the two sides, winning four of them. However, CSK will aim to turn the tables with their home-ground advantage and give their best shot against the resurgent RR.

The pitch at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is expected to favor spinners, making it tough for the batters. Therefore, both teams are likely to rely heavily on their spin bowlers to pick wickets and restrict the opposition. A score of 160-180 can be a competitive total, and the team winning the toss might choose to bowl first.

For CSK, opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in a purple patch, scoring two half-centuries in three matches. He will aim to maintain his fine form and add more runs to his tally. Meanwhile, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been sensational with both bat and ball, taking three wickets in the previous game against Mumbai. He will look to maintain his form on the turning track of MA Chidambaram Stadium.

On the other hand, RR will depend on the likes of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, and young Yashasvi Jaiswal to score runs. In the bowling department, spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal will be crucial for the team.
