Chicago’s largest music festival, Lollapalooza is approaching and the fans are beyond excited. This year marks the 16th year of the event in the city. The festival will open its gates on July 28 at 11 a.m. and will continue till July 31. Artists that are going to perform at this festival include J-Hope of BTS, J.Cole, Dua Lipa, Green Day, Metallica, Surf Messa, and many more. With eight stages and over 30 food vendors, this is one exciting event. The music ranges from some chart-topping pop music to some metal stalwarts.
J-Hope of BTS Creates History
One of the members of the biggest boy band in the world, J-Hope will be performing at the Lollapalooza this year. This will be his debut performance at this festival and will be the close-out of the final day of the event. This performance is considered to be historic as he is the first South Korean artist to ever headline in one of the major American festivals. He is replacing Doja Cat, who cancelled her performance.
J-Hope talked about his upcoming performance on a Vlive recently, where he interacted with Army and told them his nervousness, and about live set rehearsals.
According to Billboard, J-Hope’s new song ‘Arson’ debuted on the Hot 100 chart at #96. As a solo artist, it’s his third time entering the chart. Earlier, the title track for his latest album, ‘More’ also debuted on the charts dated July 16. His album, ‘Jack In The Box’ becomes the second biggest first-day and first-day album debut by a Kpop act on Spotify. The first position is held by his own group’s newest album ‘Proof’.
J-Hope is a member of the biggest boy band in the world, BTS (short for Bangtan Sonyeondan or Bulletproof Boys). The group debuted in 2013. Currently, the group is taking a break from group projects to focus on their solo projects. J-Hope released his solo mixtape in 2018 and recently released his first solo album, Jack In The Box.
Other Artists at The Event
Other artists who will be joining J-Hope include Tomorrow X Together (also known as TXT), also making their debut at a Stateside fest. The bluegrass prodigy, Billy Strings will be seen performing on the first day of the festival. The headliner of Lolla’s opening night is Metallica. La Doña will be performing at noon on Friday, followed by the U.K. duo Wet Leg at 2:50 p.m.
Lollapalooza is an annual music festival, that began in 1991, and has since become one of the biggest festivals in the US.
