This year’s Met Gala theme was ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’, with outfit code “Gilded Glamour”, an era of the 1870s in New York. The red carpet was a witness to major fashion icons, from Kim Kardashian to Natasha Poonawalla, everybody had an outfit hard to not notice. The Met was hosted by the famous Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin Manuel Miranda.
Here are some highlights from the Met Gala:
Blake Lively made her appearance with Atelier Versace rose gold gown with a magical dress transformation. Her entrance was a jaw drop not only for the paparazzi and fans but for her husband Ryan Reynolds as well. Ryan’s reaction was a heart-melting moment caught on camera.
When it comes to the Kardashians, they are far too away from the idea of dressing to disappoint. Kim Kardashian particularly pushed herself for this year’s Gala. She wore an iconic dress of Marilyn Monroe, which Marilyn wore for the birthday of John F Kennedy. It was not a smooth sail for Kim as she had to lose 7kg in three weeks just to fit in that dress. She told “The dress was transported by guards and I had to wear gloves to try it on. I always thought she was extremely curvy. I imagined I might be smaller in some places where she was bigger and bigger in places where she was smaller. So when it didn’t fit me I wanted to cry because it can’t be altered at all.” But after all the hassle, Kim did pull off the dress and made the red carpet with her current partner Pete Davidson.
The South Asian community made heads turn with their desi-finesse and heavy jewelry. Simone Ashley of Bridgerton made her way on the carpet wearing Moschino. Whereas, Natasha Poonawalla, wife of Adar Poonawalla CEO of Serum Institute of India was seen wearing a customized Sabyasachi sari with a hand-crafted metal bustier. Not only Hollywood, but Bollywood also went in awe after the revelation of the desi glam for the Gala.
The first-timers of this year’s Met were more than ready to attend. While half of the Kardashian clan has been to Gala, Kourtney Kardashian with her partner Travis Baker and Khloe Kardashian were invited this year.
The well-known cast of Euphoria also made their way to the red carpet where Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Maude Apatow were seen. However, Zendaya was not a part of this year’s Met.
With the invitations to the cast of awarded shows, Bridgerton’s cast was also noticed this year with Nicola Coughlan, Phoebe Dynevor, Rege – Jean Page, and Simone Ashley on the carpet.
The Met’s couple favorites were also in light this year. Sophie Turner, actor in Game of Thrones with her husband Joe Jonas was seen in gothic makeup and jewels all over. Sophie flaunted her baby bump of second child with Joe Jonas.
Kris Jenner and Corey Gamble looked adorable together while they waited on the steps for the rest of the family to arrive.
The Met Gala was filled with glamour and high fashion. However, fans were a bit disappointed to not see Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, Zendaya, and Harry Styles this year. But nonetheless, the celebrities present at the Gala were breath-taking with their outfits this year. It is safe to say that artists and actors dressed to impress in Gilded Glamour.
