There have been plenty of big announcements at the San Diego Comic-Con this year which also includes the trailer release of the Netflix Drama – The Sandman. The show will be based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel by author Neil Gaiman and the show will follow the story of Morpheus aka the god of dreams on a quest to reclaim his kingdom.
Netflix’s Sandman Trailer
The trailer is a complete package of footage that shows Morpheus reclaiming his helm, ruby, and pouch of sand needed to reclaim his kingdom. And to do so he must also bring his former servants back under his rule before they bring destruction and death into human life.
We also get to see the god of dreams travel to his ravaged kingdom as well as the gates of hell where he has a meeting with Lucifer who is played by Gwendoline Christie of GOT. However, the main antagonist of the show is The Corinthian (Boyd Holdbrook). He plays a powerful nightmare and servant of Morpheus who is taking revenge by wreaking havoc in the human world.
Dream, Desire, Death
The trailer gives us a glimpse of Tom Sturridge’s Dream, including several other memorable characters from Neil Gaiman’s series of novels. Written by Gaiman (American Gods) and Allan Heinberg( Wonder Woman, Grey’s Anatomy ) the live-action series is bankrolled by David S.Goyer from Warner Bros. Television.
The trailer follows ‘The Sandman’ as Dream aka Morpheus who is lurking in a realm called Dreaming and after he is captured his absence leads to triggers of destruction in both sleeping as well as waking worlds.
Dream comes face to face with the current state of affairs in his kingdom of dreaming which has been dealing with a lot of changes since his absence. However, the dream can give shape to his deepest fears and fantasies. Once he is done witnessing his dream as well as walking in the tampered world, he fights with great force to get back his throne.
The trailer also has a glimpse of Dream and Dreaming Librarian Lucienne facing the ruler of hell, the demon Lucifer Morningstar. Dream’s siblings’ Death and Desire will also be seen in the upcoming series.
The synopsis of the show reads, “Upon escaping after decades of imprisonment by a mortal wizard, Dream, the personification of dreams, sets about to reclaim his lost equipment.”
Composed of the craftsmanship of Neil Gaiman the show will star Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, and Sanjeev Bhaskar in lead roles. The VFX of the trailer gives you all the thrills and makes you eager to know more about the story.
The Netflix series is all set to release on August 5, 2022.
