The newest all-time blockbuster of Bollywood, Pathaan, has marked Rs 1000 crore gross collections at the worldwide box office. With it, Pathaan becomes the first Hindi film to breach the milestone in Phase One of its release.
The Yash Raj Films production has been directed by Siddharth Anand and stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham in the lead. With its record opening on January 25, 2023, and subsequent collections over the weeks, it was about time Pathaan reached the record figures of Rs 1000 crore at the BO
No competition for Pathaan among new releases
Not many important films have been released in the Hindi market since Pathaan, and the film is still holding fort in theatres. The only competition Pathaan had in the last week was the Hollywood film Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, which had some good opening collections at the BO in India. But the film has got bad reviews and so its numbers will likely go down.
Ditto for Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada, which has not fared well as compared to Pathaan at the ticket window. YRF had further slashed ticket prices of Pathaan after the release of Shehzada and Ant Man, especially around Valentine’s Day.
YRF said in a statement about Pathaan reaching Rs 1,000 crore in collections:
“Pathaan, on its fourth Monday, saw a solid jump again at the box office. It collected 1.25 crore nett in India (Hindi – 1.20 crore, All Dubbed versions – 0.05 crore). Pathaan has now recorded $45.94 million in the overseas territories alone, while nett collection in India stands at 516.92 crores (Hindi – 498.95 crore, Dubbed – 17.97 crore)! The total worldwide gross is an incredible 1000 crore (India gross: 623 crores, overseas: 377 crores).”
Looks like Pathaan is going to be in theatres in March 2023 as well, before it goes the OTT way. It is SRK’S first full-action film and is meant to be enjoyed in the theatre. Pathaan is also a family film, and hence entire families are going to the theatre to watch it, adding to the box office numbers.
