Lately, Bollywood is creating a lot of war films that present the history of India from every part in detail. Another such movie is Pippa, a war drama that presents the story of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta, who fought in the Indo-Pakistan war on the eastern front in 1971.
The story is based on true events and the war memoir, The Burning Chaffees, by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta.
Ever since this movie was announced, two years ago, it attracted a lot of buzzes. On the 75th Independence Day, the makers of Pippa released the teaser of the movie. Check out the teaser below:
In the teaser, the events of December 3rd, 1971 are presented, when then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declares war on Pakistan. We are given a glimpse into the star cast of Pippa. Ishaan Khattar is seen wearing an army uniform and playing the role of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. The teaser gives a sneak peek of the inspiring dialogues in the film.
Story of Pippa
The story is set in the battle of Garibpur of 1971 and follows Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta, who fought in the Indo-Pak war from then East Pakistan. He was a veteran of the 45th Cavalry Tank Squadron.
The title has a unique meaning in two different languages. In Russian, it refers to the Russian amphibious war tank, which was used in the war. And in Punjabi, it refers to the empty ghee ka Dabba, which can float on water.
Pippa Cast
The movie has an impressive star cast with Ishaan Khatter and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles and Soni Razdan and Priyanshu Painyuli in some pivotal roles.
The film is directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the director of Airlift, and is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur (Roy Kapur Films), and Ronnie Screwvala (RSVP). The music is by AR Rahman.
Teaser Shared By The Cast
The teaser was first released on Ishaan Khatter’s Instagram page, where he announced the release date of the movie. He also added how honored he felt to play the character of a veteran to represent the valor and bravery of the nation’s defense forces.
Mrunal Thakur also took to her Instagram to share the teaser of her upcoming movie.
Soni Razdan also shared the teaser on her Instagram.
