Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged citizens to change their social media profile pictures ahead of celebrations for Independence Day 2023. Modi urged citizens to change their social media profile pictures to the Indian national flag to support the Har Ghar Tiranga movement.
Every Indian has an emotional connection to the Tiranga, the Prime Minister said in a tweet on Friday, adding that it serves as motivation for us all to strive harder for the advancement of the country.
The Prime Minister tweeted on X ‘ Tiranga symbolizes the spirit of national unity and freedom. Every Indian has an emotional connection with the Tricolour and it inspires us to work harder to further national progress. I urge everyone to take part in the #HarGharTiranga movement between 13th to 15th August’.
When was Har Ghar Tiranga launched?
Har Ghar Tiranga was launched on 22nd July 2022, under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the 75 magnificent years of a progressive independent India. In order to honor India’s 75th year of independence, it invited citizens to bring the Tiranga home and hoist it.
The citizens have traditionally had a more formal and institutional than a personal relationship with the flag. The act of raising the flag as a nation in our 75th year of independence symbolizes both our commitment to building a better nation and our gesture of kinship with the Tiranga. The purpose of the campaign is to instill in individuals a sense of patriotism and to raise knowledge of the Indian National Flag.
Last year, the “Har Ghar Tiranga” tradition had great success and jan bhagidari. During the campaign in 2022, numerous new accomplishments were made. One instance is when 5,885 people gathered at the Cricket Stadium in Sector 16, Chandigarh, and set a Guinness World Record for the largest human representation of a waving flag. Additionally, on the Har Ghar Tiranga website, nearly 6 crore people uploaded selfies they clicked with the Indian flag.
