Aaron Carter Rose to fame in the 1990s and early 2000s, when he released songs like ‘I Want Candy’ and ‘I’m All About You’. He was the younger brother of Nick Carter, a member of the hugely popular Backstreet Boys.
His death was confirmed by his representatives. “We are extremely saddened and shocked to confirm the passing of Aaron Carter today,” his rep said in a statement. “At the moment his cause of death is being investigated. We ask that you give the family time and they will have more information when available. We cannot express the outpouring of love coming in.”
According to the sources, law enforcement agencies received a 911 call at 11 AM Saturday that a male had drowned in the tub, post which, homicide officers had been dispatched to his California residence.
The cause of death and further details are presently unknown. In his early years, Aaron was a part of various popular shows including Dancing With The Stars, Lizzie McGuire, and Sabrina The Teenage Witch. Carter played JoJo in “Who in Seussical the Musical” on Broadway beginning in 2001.
Five years later, he and his siblings also had a series “House of Carters.” He released five albums during his lifetime, the first one at the young age of 9 years. His first album sold a million copies, post which he became a household name and a regular on Nickelodeon.

It was in the later years of his life that he got embroiled in multiple legal issues, including one in 2019, where his older brother Nick Carter filed a restraining order against him, claiming that he had threatened to kill his pregnant wife and unborn child. In 2017, he admitted to taking a mixture of benzodiazepines and opiates to alleviate his stress and anxiety.
That same year, Carter and his girlfriend were arrested on DUI and drug charges in Georgia. Carter was accused of driving drunk and possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana and paraphernalia. Later in an interview, he said that he doesn’t drink and does not have a drug addiction.
In 2019, he opened up about his mental health condition on ‘The Doctors’, where he spoke about being diagnosed with schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder, acute anxiety, and manic depression. He was engaged to Malaine Martin, with whom he had welcomed their first and only child, Prince Lyric in November 2021. Malaine mourned his death and posted an emotional video on her social media following the news of Aaron Carter’s death.
