In India, Jailer nears Rs. 300 crore, a rare milestone for any Indian film. As per early estimates, the film has earned Rs. 263.9 crore nett in India in all languages so far. The film was released in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, in addition to the original Tamil version.
Jailer has received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike for its thrilling plot, stylish presentation, and Rajinikanth’s charismatic performance. The film’s music, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has also been well-received by the fans. The songs and the background score add to the mood and intensity of the film. The film’s production values are also top-notch, thanks to Sun Pictures, one of the leading banners in Tamil cinema.
The story follows a jailer who battles corruption and a strong politician. Rajinikanth plays a father to a police officer using weapons against wrongdoers. The teaser briefly showcases Jackie Shroff in a significant, likely negative role. Notably, Jackie and Rajnikanth acted together 36 years ago in Uttar Dakshin. The film includes Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, and Tamannaah Bhatia in pivotal roles. Shiva Rajkumar, Priyanka Mohan, and Yogi Babu are also in the movie. It also includes a special cameo by Malayalam actor Mohanlal.
Kamal Haasan congratulated Rajinikanth over the phone for Jailer ‘s success, acknowledging the film’s achievements. Rajinikanth had also praised Kamal for Vikram‘s good collections last year.
Kamal also reached out to Nelson, the director, to convey his congratulations. Nelson and Kamal had previously worked together on a TV show.
Rajinikanth, known for humility, thanked fans and Jailer ‘s creators for its success. He went to the Himalayas on the film’s release day and didn’t partake in celebrations. Instead, Rajinikanth visited Badrinath Dham on August 12 to offer prayers. He said that by the blessing of God, the film is becoming a hit. He recently met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow and watched the movie with him.
Jailer may continue to run strongly at the box office in the coming days and break more records. Rajinikanth has once again proved that he is the undisputed king of Indian cinema with his latest film.
