Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale was hospitalized and underwent various treatments in Pune’s Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital since November 5. On 24th, the actor’s family members shared that his condition was extremely critical. The hospital’s report on Saturday morning said that his health had slightly deteriorated and that he continued to be on ventilation support. But the veteran actor breathed his last the same afternoon due to multiple organ failures. His daughter confirmed the news, “This is to confirm that Mr. Vikram Gokhale passed away this afternoon. We would like to thank everyone for their good wishes, support, and prayers through this difficult time,” his daughter said.”
His remains were taken to Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir and the last rites were performed at Vaikunth on Saturday.

The demise of the veteran actor has made the film industry desolate. The mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan expressed his grief in his blog. Many stars from the silver screen, directors, actors, and co-stars, all expressed their deepest condolences and paid tribute to the late actor.
Twitter has flooded with the emotional tribute from Bollywood. Nana Patekar tweeted in Marathi that he’ll always bow down in front of the veteran actor. Akshay Kumar also remembers the late actor from movies like Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Mission Mangal. Sanjay Leela Bansali remembers working with Gokhale for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Vikram Gokhale had a long and booming career in the entertainment industry for decades. He was renowned for his works in Hindi and Marathi films and television. Born on November 14th, 1945, Gokhale came from a family of theater artists. The acting was in his blood.
His father was the son of Chandrakant Gokhale, the Marathi theatre and film actor. His father did 68 Marathi films and 16 Hindi movies. He even enacted in Marathi plays for over 75 years.
Gokhale’s great-grandmother, Durgabai Kamat, was the first female performer in Indian cinema. Kamlabai Gokhale, Gokhale’s grandmother was also the first female child actor in Indian cinema.
In his lifespan, Vikram Gokhale acted in numerous Hindi movies and TV shows. In his career spanning around five decades, he aced roles from all genres – be it a comedy film, a drama, or one shedding light on social issues. He has portrayed versatile characters onscreen.
He debuted in Bollywood with the Amitabh Bacchan-starrer, ‘Parwana’. Bollywood films such as Mukul K. Anand’s ‘Agneepath’, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999), Kamal Haasan’s ‘Hey Ram’ (2001), Priyadarshan’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ (2007), ‘De Dana Dan’ (2009) and many others.
Vikram Gokhale’s work in Marathi films includes Bala Gau Kashi Angai, Kalat Nakalat, Lapandav, and Aamhi Bolato Marathi. Gokhale was also renowned for the TV show Ya Sukhanno Ya.
In 2011 India’s National Academy of Music, Dance, and Drama, Sangeet Natak Akademi, conferred him with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, for his contribution to theatre acting.
His Marathi film Anumati got him the National Award in the 60th National Film Award in the Best Actor category in 2013.
He retired from stage activities in February 2016, due to a throat ailment, in February 2016, yet he continued with film work.
Vikram Gokhale was last seen on screen in the Marathi film Godavari, which hit theatres earlier this month.
