The much-awaited prequel is finally here, with no doubt of it being another high fantasy winner. The prequel series also promises to bring clarity on why Westeros ended up the way it did. House of The Dragon is set about 200 years in Westeros before the War of the Five Kings.
It focuses on the Targaryen family and their long rule, adapted from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. Though Martin often borrows his inspiration from Medieval history, the series is pure work of fiction.
Moreover, the story depicts the unsettling history of Targaryens, bloodthirsty wars, and the dancing of dragons, with unfolding drama and deceit.

First episode – The Heirs of The Dragon
The first episode ‘The heirs of the dragon’ focuses on establishing the players in house Targaryen then it shifts to the ruin of Targaryen and the subsequent war of succession.
The king is worried about passing down the ‘‘Iron Throne’’. After deciding to name Princess Rhaenyra his rightful heir, King Viserys shares a Targaryen family secret with her.
“Our histories, they tell us that Aegon looked across the Blackwater from Dragonstone, saw a rich land ripe for capture,” Viserys says, speaking of Aegon the Conqueror, the first Targaryen ruler of Westeros. ” But ambition alone is not what drove him to conquest. It was a dream.”
Aegon foresaw the end of the world of men which will begin with a terrible winter from the distant north. And when the great winter comes, Princess with all of Westeros must stand against it. Rhaenyra learns why Aegon set out to conquer the Seven kingdoms in the first place. Aegon believed that only his descendants would be able to reunite the White Walkers.
Aegon called his dream the song of Ice & Fire. the king tells her that the secret has been passed from king to heir since Aegon’s time and now she must carry it.

Review
In the first impression, the show seems to have connected with the storyline of Game of Thrones as well. The show does an outstanding job at capturing the beautiful theme of big castles and overcast skies. The characters powered the opening of the show with a great amount of intensity.
The final moments of the episode also contain the promise that the show is willing to test limits and go all out with dragon-sized plot expectations. Whether the new heir carries and passes down the secret is remained to be seen.
