Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated movie, directed by Atlee, is causing a ticket-booking frenzy across India. Scheduled for release on September 7 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages, the film has already made headlines with remarkable ticket sales.
On Friday, the makers unveiled a promotional video for Jawan to announce the official commencement of advance bookings. Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, shared the clip.
Jawan Advance Ticket Sales and Prices
In a jaw-dropping display of anticipation and devotion, Jawan has already shattered records with an astounding 2.32 lakh advance tickets sold and a staggering INR 7.85 crore earned in advance bookings on its very first day, making it a standout contender in the realm of Hindi cinema for the year 2023. Trade Analyst Manobala Vijayabalan shared the information over X (formerly Twitter).
The buzz around Jawan drove fans to extremes and theaters in key cities to charge astronomical prices for a single ticket. In Mumbai, tickets go up to INR 2,400, while in Delhi, they range from INR 800 to INR 1,500.
In Chennai, a city with a massive SRK fan following, tickets have already sold out for the first three days. Kolkata is witnessing an average ticket price of INR 600 while, in Bengaluru, it’s around INR 700.
Trade experts project Jawan to earn a colossal INR 125 crore globally on day one, with Atul Mohan expecting record-breaking opening-day figures. He also mentioned that this is reviving single screens.
As for the latest statistics, according to Sacnilk, Jawan has successfully sold 2.6 lakh tickets for its Hindi screenings in both 2D and IMAX formats. Additionally, the Tamil and Telugu versions have collectively contributed approximately 4700 tickets to the tally. The report also revealed that the cumulative ticket sales for Jawan now stand at an impressive 2,71,176, resulting in a substantial advance booking revenue of INR 8.98 crore for the film.
Jawan‘s Competition with Salaar and Pathaan
Jawan has not only created a buzz but has also outperformed its competition in advance bookings. Prabhas’ Salaar which is set to release on September 28 earned INR 5.6 crore in advance bookings, while Shah Rukh Khan’s earlier film, Pathaan secured INR 6.2 crore. However, Jawan has a clear edge over these films due to its multilingual release and broader appeal.
The Synopsis of the Movie
Jawan is a high-octane action thriller that follows the story of Vikram Rathore, a former soldier who leads a team of six skilled women in a series of heists across the country, including hijacking the Mumbai Metro. Simultaneously, he discovers that his long-lost son, Azaad Rathore, is an honest police officer targeted by his nemesis, Kalee, the fourth-largest arms dealer globally. The movie promises to be a visual spectacle with breathtaking action sequences, exotic locations, and a gripping storyline.
