The epic remake of the Forrest Gump in Hindi as Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha received a slow start on day 1 of its collection. The film, facing severe issues of boycott, managed to give a slow start at the box office on Thursday.
Following the weekend of Independence Day and with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan as a competition the film has edged out. The film’s box office collection reached 12 crores on day 1 of its release. Bollywood Hungama said that Laal Singh Chaddha has been Aamir Khan’s lowest opening in the past 13 years.

When compared to Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindustan which has been considered one of the major flops in Hindi Box Office history made- 52 crores on its day 1 of opening setting a record that has been broken. Laal Singh Chaddha has registered as the third biggest opening day as a Hindi film in 2022.
After Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (Rs 14.1crore), Bachchan Pandey (Rs. 13.2 crores), and ahead of Samrat Prithviraj (Rs. 10.7 crores), Gangubai Kathiawadi (Rs. 10.5 crores) and Shamshera (Rs.10.2 crore).

Laal Singh Chaddha left the fans disappointed on August 11 after its day 1 at the box office. Despite being a holiday, the film could garner only Rs 11.50 crore. The Tom Hanks starrer Forrest Gump’s remake Laal Singh Chaddha has given a slow start for the mini weekend ahead. According to the reports, Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan was released alongside and managed to collect 8 crores on day 1.
Laal Singh Chaddha had received a lot of controversy and criticism before its release. There was a Twitter trend of boycotting the film over the statements made over its release. However, Aamir Khan apologized to the audience and requested them to watch the film in theatres.
