This year’s Lollapalooza saw some diversification not only in the music genres but also culturally. From Dua Lipa to MGK to Tomorrow X Together to J-Hope of BTS, this year the largest music festival in Chicago saw some brilliant performances. Some even created history on the stage with their performances like TXT (Tomorrow X Together) became the first South Korean group to perform on the Lollapalooza stage.
TXT’s Performance At Lollapalooza

The five-member group has recently become an internet sensation as they created magic on the stage of Lollapalooza on Saturday, July 30. This performance marked the group’s debut performance at an American Festival with this event. Their performance was nothing less than magic, but it became more special with Iann Dior joining the boys for their song Valley of Lies.
TXT performed a total of eight songs which includes Good Boy Gone Bad, Frost, Anti-Romantic, LO$ER = LOVER, Valley of Lies, Magic, Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go, and 0x1 = Lovesong.
MOAs (the fan name for the group) attended the group in large numbers along with two BTS members J-Hope and Jimin. The two were seen dancing and enjoying the performances. Bang Si-Hyuk also known as Bang PD also joined the audience and was seen enjoying and clicking pictures.
J-Hope of BTS Performs At Lollapalooza

Not only did Tomorrow X Together create history, but J-Hope of BTS also became the first South Korean artist to ever headline a major US music festival. On July 31, The artist performed a total of eighteen songs which included the group’s beloved Dynamite (Tropical Mix), Arson, Chicken Noodle Soup ft. Becky G, Pandora’s Box, BTS Cypher Pt. 1, Daydream, Ego, and many more.
His electrifying performance left the BTS Army in awe. His collaboration for the song, Chicken Noodle Soup, with Becky G was seen for the first time on a live stage. The duration of his whole set was an hour and 10 minutes. He also thanked his fans in the beginning in Korean.
BTS Member Jimin was present at the event and had flown from South Korea to Chicago in order to support his fellow group member. In a recent VLive, J-Hope mentioned how nervous he was about the performance, Jimin supported him well for J-Hope delivered an amazing performance at the event.
The music festival attracted a lot of buzzes since the organizers introduced J-Hope as the headliner. ARMYs have been trending ‘Hobipalooza’ since then.
This marks the first solo performance by J-Hope after the group’s announcement of hiatus. The group, however, will be hosting a concert in Busan, South Korea as part of their ambassador duties for the World Expo Bid.
Other BTS members Jimin, Jungkook, V, and Jin will also be back with a collaboration with Benny Blanco for their new track, Bad Decisions. The teaser for the song will be out on Sunday and the song will be released on August 5.
TXT and J-Hope’s performance was streamed live on the Weverse App outside the US and for the US streamers, select performances were streamed on Hulu.
Highlights of the Event
Other artists who performed at this year’s Lollapalooza were Dua Lipa, Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Durik, Metallica, DJ Kygo, J.Cole, and many more.
Dua Lipa performed her hit song Physical, from her Grammy award-winning album Future Nostalgia. She looked amazing in a glittery blue bodysuit.
Machine Gun Kelly treated his fans with his latest song Mainstream Sellout. He was also joined by Avril Lavigne for their song Bois Lie.
The fans were also treated by the legendary Metallica with some hard rock and heavy metal music.
