Netflix, the world’s largest streaming service, has dropped a teaser trailer for the first part of director Zack Snyder’s science fiction epic Rebel Moon, titled A Child Of Fire. In the gripping three-minute trailer, we see Kora (Sofia Boutella) preparing to defend her colony from intergalactic warfare.

Beginning the teaser with the question, “Do you know the story of Princess Isa?” is Academy Award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins. The narrator continues to praise her, calling her the “Redeemer” and “the child who would stop the madness of war.” Meanwhile, the invaders track down Kora and task her with rallying the resistance against their advance. The trailer teases a thrilling origin space saga for fans around the world, complete with jaw-dropping special effects and larger-than-life action sequences.

The official synopsis of the Rebel Moon reads,
“When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors—outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and orphans of war from different worlds—who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.”
About The Rebel Moon Franchise
Earlier, director Zack Snyder revealed that both parts of the Rebel Moon films will have two different cuts, which will cater to two different groups of audiences. The first version of the films is made for everyone to watch and enjoy, while the second cuts of both films will be more explicit in their content and are strictly for adults.
Cast Of Rebel Moon
Starring Djimon Hounsou, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Charlie Hunnam, g Staz Nair, Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Eggert Sigur’sson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, and Rebel Moon, Part 1: A Child of Fire also features several other notable actors. The Netflix premiere is set for December 22. Part 2, titled The Scargiver, is set to be released on April 19, 2024, as shown in the trailer.

Netflix Film Chairman Scott Scuber thought it was a bad idea to release Rebel Moon in its entirety because it ran for more than three hours. Deborah Snyder, Zack Synder’s partner, was recently quoted in a Vanity Fair interview as saying,
“Stuber was like, ‘On the service, under-two-hour movies really do better for some reason,’ even though you’ll binge-watch a series of eight episodes.”
Zack said,
“If you ask me to make this less than two hours, I’m going to lose all the character. You won’t care about these people. It’s a character story about how people can change, and find redemption, and what are you willing to fight for?”
Zack asked, “What if he makes two movies?” Thus, it was decided to split the movie in half.
