The brand new weekend started with the exciting IPL 2022 auction in Bengaluru. Ten marquee players kicked off the two-day event, followed by the capped players, which included all-rounders, batters, spinners, and fast bowlers. The uncapped player went under the hammer next.
Some updates from today’s mega auction

The mega auction day one has astonished many viewers in many ways. Deepak Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jason Holder, Kagiso Rabada, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and many more have set a record due to their popularity lately. The auction has divided all the players into sixty-two sets for the two-day event.
The auction began with the marquee player Shikhar Dhawan, brought by Punjab Kings for Rs. 8.25 crores. R. Ashwin, on the other side, has been released by Delhi Capitals and successfully become a part of the Rajasthan team. He was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 5 crores. Kagiso Rabada, the South African Cricketer, was sold to Punjab Kings for Rs. 9.25 crores.
Shreyas Iyer has set a benchmark by becoming the first player sold for more than Rs. 10 crores on a day one auction. Kolkata Knight Riders managed to buy the Indian batsman for Rs. 12.25 crores after a vigorous bidding war with Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Titans, and Delhi Capitals, the former franchise.
Rahul Tripathi, whose base price was Rs. 40 lakhs, has been taken away by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a staggering amount of Rs. 8.5 crores. The bidding started slow but took a massive turn after many franchises showed interest in him.
C. Hari Nishaanth and Anmolpreet Singh, with a base price of 20 lakhs, remained unsold for the day.
Moving on to the uncapped players, Assam’s Riyan Parag has been prevailed by Rajasthan Royals. The player had a base price of Rs. 30 lakhs but was sold to the Rajasthan franchise for Rs. 3.8 crores. In contrast, Abhishek Sharma, whose base price was Rs. 20 lakhs, managed to fetch a massive amount than expected. Sunrisers Hyderabad kept upping the stakes for the player until they bagged him from all the franchises that were interested in having him in their teams.
Shahrukh Khan was sold to Punjab Kings for Rs. 9 crores. CSK was very quick in taking away the player before Punjab feverishly managed to bid on him before anyone could do it.
Sarfaraz Khan sets to go for Dekhi Capitals for his base amount of Rs. 20 lakhs.
The auction of IPL 2022 is going to be a massive auction than any other IPL auction held before. Hugh Edmeades collapsed in the mid-event that led to the early lunch break.
